Dry Skin Care
As for the face, (see Skin Care Products post) there are gentle body cleansers designed for people with dry skin. Dove Body wash, Cetaphil Restoraderm body wash and moisturizer, DHS Body Wash, Olay Sensitive Body Wash are great. If you prefer a bar soap Dove sensitive skin, Cetaphil , and Olay sensitive skin are all effective. Additionally, if you prefer a soap with natural oils and moisturizers, you can try Ellen April, she has a full line of moisturizing natural skin care products.
Moisturizers for dry skin are reviewed in the eczema section, however for extremely dry skin such as elbows, hands, knees, or heels, there are several other good moisturizers which contain lactic acid, salicylic acid and/or urea. These chemicals gently slough off dry dead skin and help conditions such as keratosis pilaris, small dry bumps on the backs of the arms, ichthyosis, hereditary dry skin mostly on extremities that looks like fish scales, and keratoderma, thick skin on hands feet, elbows and knees. Cerave SA, Excipial, Flexitol Heel Balm, Lac-hydrin, and Amlactin are all good choices.
